Hung Liu: A True American Artist
Hung Liu was born in 1948 in Changchun, China. The only child of prominent intellectuals, her life was unlike most of her peers in pre-1960's China. At 18 that sheltered life changed dramatically when she was taken from her family to be and reeducated in rural China as part of Mao Tse Tung's Cultural Revolution.
"A True American Artist" chronicles Hung's life through anecdote and artwork. The film covers her life from her childhood in China to her emigration to the United States to her present life as a renowned artist and teacher.
